My involvement with community activities is of utmost importance such as my work with Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce Teacher Intern Program. Helping the Coeur d’Alene Recreation Department to Coach Football and Soccer was very enjoyable. Serving on the Youth Help Line was very meaningful. Being a part of the St Pius Religious Education Program and also serving on the Parish Council was very important to me. Currently I am serving on the Board of directors for the Children’s Village.

Professionally, I have worked at Lakes Middle School for the past 10 years as the Assistant Principal for the Coeur d'Alene School District.

What are your three priority issues and why:

  1. The hiring of a professional administrator to guide and lead the various departments at the county level.
    1. A commitment to reviewing the previous study commission works of alternate forms of county government and getting additional new input for the community.
    2. A commitment to putting one or more options for alternative forms of county government on the general election ballot in 2010.

  1. Growth: Continue the quality of life that I have enjoyed for the past 29 years and to help plan the future responsibly with measured growth.

There are a number of issues that the county faces, such as a new jail, the aquifer and other pressing concerns that I will review.

What are your three priority issues and why:

GROWTH-THIS IS THE GREATEST CONCERN FACING KOOTENAI COUNTY TODAY.  THE TIMELY COMPLETION OF THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN IS A MAJOR STEP IN PLANNING FOR OUR FUTURE, BUT JUST AS IMPORTANT IS THE ZONING RULES THAT NEED TO BE IMPLEMENTED TO ENFORCE THE COMP PLAN’S DIRECTION.  THESE RULES NEED TO BE ADDRESSED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

WASTE WATER-BOTH SEPTIC AND RUN-OFF ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO THE FUTURE WELL BEING OF KOOTENAI COUNTY.  WE NEED TO WORK WITH THE D.E.Q., PANHANDLE HEALTH AND OTHER AGENCIES TO IMPROVE OUR WASTE WATER CAPABILITIES.  THE EXISTING PROCESS WILL NOT WORK AS WE CONTINUE TO GROW.  THE TECHNOLOGY TO HELP US SOLVE THESE ISSUES IS RAPIDLY BECOMING AVAILABLE.  WE NEED TO PRACTICE DUE DILLIGENCE IN MAKING SURE THESE SYSTEMS WORK, AND THAT WE PROTECT THE VALUABLE NATURAL RESOURCES OUR COUNTY HAS TO OFFER.

COMBINATION OF COUNTY ISSUES FROM EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION TO PLANT FACILITIES. AS OUR COUNTY GROWS SO DOES THE NEED TO PROVIDE THE MANDATED SERVICES THAT  ARE REQUIRED OF US.  WE NEED TO BE PRUDENT IN ADDRESSING THESE NEEDS.  OUR EMPLOYESS ARE OUR NUMBER ONE RESOURCE, AND THEIR JUST COMPENSATION AND SAFE WORKING CONDITIONS NEED TO BE CONTINUALLY MONITORED AS WE LOOK TO THE FUTURE. ALTHOUGH THE JAIL HAS BEEN THE MAIN FOCUS AS OF LATE, WE ARE RAPIDLY RUNNING OUT OF OFFICE SPACE, COURT ROOM FACILITIES AND PARKING.  THESE ITEMS WILL NOT SIMPLY GO AWAY, BUT ONLY GET WORSE IF NOT ADDRESSED.
