2)Board of Directors of CDA Homes.  Began in January 2009.  We provide housing for low-income seniors and are a Christian outreach originally founded by the Lutheran church.

3) I am a county representative on the Hauser Planning & Zoning Commission.

4) Panhandle Equine Rescue from 1993 until present:  My wife and I transport, provide foster care and help adopt out abused and neglected horses.

5) Dishwasher in a food kitchen called Our Daily Bread at my church.

6)  This past fall, I helped bring Bible Study Fellowship for men back to CDA area and now a class in up and running with approximately 150 men meeting each Monday.

Describe your employment history for the past 10 years including dates:

In 1995, I started my own company and sold lumber in the western US.  I retired from the company in 2008 at the age of 52.  My company generated millions of dollars in revenues.  I directed a company & budget, guided employees; I understand complex financial transactions & management systems and created a vision & direction for my successful company.

What are your three priority issues and why:

1)     End wasteful spending.  If you spend efficiently, prudently and are fiscally conservative, we will be able to maintain a low tax and low regulatory environment.  Companies will want to locate here if we are business friendly via a low tax formula.  Complete the Comp Plan and move forward with the implementation of the plan.  We waste money on appeals and litigation due to the fact that there are too many inconsistencies in the current ordinances.  Review not only the budget but also audited financial statements to see how our departments are performing.

2)     Promote Responsible Growth while protecting our North Idaho way of life.  People move here because we enjoy the beautiful natural resources.  We need to protect our natural resources while fostering an atmosphere conducive to growth.  Growth is good, necessary and inevitable but we must manage it. We need a clear direction on land use planning and implementation to keep this area beautiful and allow businesses to have a clear expectation of what they can achieve.

3)      Return the concept of public service to the job of county commissioner.  I support a restructuring of county government, via a public vote, on what the role of the commissioner should be.  I think the role should be part-time, policy oriented and a watchdog of the taxpayer’s money.  We have made careers out of public service and that needs to change.  Commissioner’s compensation should be based on part-time.
