Voter Registration: Anyone who is 18 years of age, a resident within the City of Rathdrum and has not been found guilty of a felon can register to vote.  You can register at City Hall, 8047 W Main Street, or the County Elections office at 315 W. Garden Avenue.  The City and County have joint registration, so when you register at either place you are registered to vote in any City, County, State, or Federal election.  In order to register to vote, you must have a photo ID (either a driver’s license or State issued identification card).   If your address on the photo ID is not your current address, you must show proof of current residence such as a copy of a utility bill or bank statement.  The deadline for registering to vote at the polls is October 9, 2009.  Following that date, you may register and vote absentee until November 2, 2009.

Absentee Voting: Any qualified elector may vote absentee from the time the ballots are available until 5:00 pm on November 2, the day before election.  It is anticipated that absentee ballots will be available beginning October 22, 2009.  You may vote absentee at City Hall, 8047 W Main Street, Rathdrum, ID or at the County Elections Office, 315 W. Garden Ave., Coeur d’Alene. An absentee ballot can be mailed to you upon request.  Please send your written request to the County Elections Office at PO Box 9000, Coeur d’Alene ID 83816-9000.  Please remember to sign your name on the written request (if you are husband and wife, both must sign the written request if you would like a ballot mailed to each of you).  Written requests for mailed ballots must be received no later than   October 28, 2009.
